The Peace-Freedom pattern is wonderful for beginner and accomplished scroll sawyers. It has long and sharp curves and small cutouts to practice blade control. And it is very attractive when completed. Some may paint it, but it is, I think, the prettiest when cut from solid maple or other light wood with a backer of a darker colored wood such as cedar, pecan or walnut. I think I will also try straight grain pine with a golden oak stain with a red oak backer stained with a equal parts of alcohol and boiled lendseed oil. Papa did well when he designed this pattern.
